Leave it to the folks at AMC/Mad Men to be the most ingenious marketers. This isn’t a particularly new idea (see all the South Park icons running around Facebook) but it’s a well executed one. AMC tapped Dyna Moe, the blogger and graphic designer whose Mad Men animations shot like rockets around the blogosphere last year, to animate a new “MadMen Yourself” promotion where you can create your own Mad Menesque avatar (and then help promote Mad Men season 3 along the way). Already, Jake Tapper, previously a South Parker has changed his twitter avatar over. I hate to fall into their little marketing trap, but I guess it’s too late.
