I’m not quite sure what it means that both the Washington Post and POLITICO have front page stories on the use of immigration reform as an issue to build a broader Latino constituency.  While the Post focuses on the White House and Democrats, amusingly, POLITICO hones in on efforts by church leaders, particularly evangelicals.  The effect is that church leaders come across as cynical operatives looking to enhance their membership, power and influence.  In other words they come across like a political party.
